To the editor:
I am writing to urge Tiverton voters to contact their legislators regarding the “Let RI Vote” bills, S-2007 and H-7100, which would make permanent the temporary changes which were made in 2020.
These bills create online mail ballot applications, remove the requirement for two witnesses or a notary public to verify your signature on your ballot, make the mail drop boxes which were installed in 2020 permanent, provide improved voter list maintenance, and a voter will no longer be required to provide a reason for choosing a particular voting method.
A simple email to your Senator or Representative would let them know that you want to see these changes become permanent.
Contact information is: Sen-Seveney@rilegislature.gov, sen-felag@rilegislature.gov, rep-edwards@rilegislature.gov, rep-mcgaw@rilegislature.gov.
I would hope permanent changes would encourage higher voter turnout.
