Early Friday morning I learned that an attacker had brutally assaulted Paul Pelosi, husband of Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House and second in line to the presidency. The reports are that the assailant echoed the violence of January 6th by first breaking into the home, then shouting “Where’s Nancy?” At noon at my mailbox, the Little Compton Taxpayers Association (LCTA) showed me that Little Compton is not immune to the hatred and destructive partisanship sweeping the nation.

The newsletter is anonymous. Who are the LCTA members now? Cowards use the tactics of anonymous leafletting.
The newsletter is a rehash of false right-wing talking points purely to inflame a culture war and bring its national poison to Little Compton.

The newsletter calls out and attacks a specific Independent candidate for Town Council.

The newsletter endorses and urges voting for all Republican candidates, or any candidate in opposition to the Democratic candidate.

I would hope that the Republican Town Committee would disavow association with such vile and unbalanced information distributed throughout town. My hope is based upon common decency and respect for others. However, given the absence of the Republican candidates at the recent forum sponsored by the Sakonnet Times, my hopes turn to fantasy. The forum allowed us to hear from the candidates present and learn of their positions. In the Republican absence, I can only believe that the newsletter represents their perspective. Shame!
