Letter: Grateful for a roadside kind deed

To the editor:

In this time if uncertainty and sometimes despair, here is a story that is a “feel good” one.

For the first time in 85 years, I ran out of gas. I was on Route 88 in Westport and pulled over to the side of the road, blinkers on. Soon a car pulled over in front of me and a young man asked if he could help. He said that he would go to a nearby gas station to get some gas.

After he left, a Westport police officer parked behind me, and I told him about my savior. He said he would wait with me because I was in a vulnerable spot on the highway.

Soon the young man returned with the gas and went on his way.

So, there are good samaritans around and I am grateful to have benefitted from them.
