The Westport Board of Health on Monday evening rescinded the town-wide face covering mandate in place since last month, replacing it with an advisory, or recommendation, that residents wear a mask or face covering in indoor public places.
The mandate was put in place last month due to the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.
Some residents, including this business owner, objected to the mandate, saying it was unnecessary and was hurting business owners.
