I would like to respond to the article introducing the new town manager, as her look out towards the town's future sounds nice, but what about the previous issues and problems that plague
town officials seem to be kept under the rug. The former town manager did not do his job, and
I have two legal actions pending with the town as we speak. The present council and the new town manager play silent with these issues. The State DOT has been citied by the Federal Highway admin for failure to repair sidewalks and roadways here in Warren, RI, these actions trickle down to Warren, as due to state law, the town is responsible for maintenance and repair of sidewalks, which they have remained silent to this action for better of two years (the term of the former manager). Cole Street continues to be in violation when the town replaced the sidewalk on the west side as there is no wheelchair cut out in place and that was supposed to have been corrected well back into last year and remains un-repaired!
I don't understand how this manager can say the future of Warren looks bright, when these issues and lawsuits are pending. Metacom Avenue sidewalks are a battlefield, I bet the Warren Restaurant and Perella's would have more customers if the sidewalks were in better shape and there was available parking? Promises to fix this is not slated till 2024-2025. However this entire area has been deemed in violation of the ADA law. Something the Town of Warren is responsible for and ignores! This was one reason why I moved out of Warren, as a disabled person, I was tired of taking my life into my hands maneuvering around the sidewalks of Warren.
