Tyska drops out of District 68 race
Decision came late on Monday, New Year's Eve
Independent Nicki Ann Tyska of Bristol has dropped out of the race for the House of Representatives District 68 seat, just four days after declaring her intent to run for office.
“I have decided to not pursue” the seat, she wrote in an email to the Warren Times just before 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
“I will continue to make my impact in the community through my work at East Bay Food Pantry."
Ms. Tyska’s unexpected departure leaves six candidates left running for the seat: Independents James McCanna and Kenneth Marshall, Libertarian William Hunt and Democrats June Speakman, John Hanley and Richard Ruggiero.
