St. Andrew's School will host UK college fair

Free event is open to local high school students

St. Andrew’s School will host several universities from the United Kingdom on Thursday, March 15, at 6 p.m. in the McCulloch Center for the Arts.

The UK college fair will give students in the local area an opportunity to meet with representatives from Bristol University, Durham University, Southampton University, and the University of York.

The three-hour event will consist of a workshop about applying to universities in the U.K., presentations about each visiting university, and a college fair.

Studying in the United Kingdom has become an increasingly popular option for US students because of the cost of American universities. At universities in the U.K., students can complete their degrees in three years, specialize in their subjects at the start of their college careers, and enter medicine and law directly from high school.

“Anyone interested in a premier and affordable educational opportunity should consider the United Kingdom system,” said Eric Hill, the director of college counseling at St. Andrew’s School. “This event will offer information, guidance, and a detailed introduction to the genuine, international value of a UK degree.”

Rhode Island students in grades 10 through 12 and their families are encouraged to attend this free event.
