A South Meadow Lane resident in Barrington contacted police on Saturday, Jan. 18 regarding people hunting nearby in Smith's Cove.
The resident said he believed the hunters had crossed private property to access the land where they were hunting.
DEM was contacted, and officials there determined that the hunters were OK to hunt in that location and had used a public right of way to access the property.
Local police and DEM occasionally receive complaints about hunters in Hundred Acre Cove or Smith's Cove or near Mussachuck Beach.
