Goglia assisted on her senior classmate's tally while Brooke Avila had the helper on her goal. Moira Ware was credited with three saves in the Mt. Hope net. The Huskies moved to 4-4-3 overall at the time.
Boys' soccer
The MHHS boys' soccer club stopped a brief, two-game losing streak by playing host Cranston East to a 1-1 tie October 6 at Cranston Stadium.
The Huskies, who opened the 2026 on an eight-match unbeaten stretch, saw their record move to 6-2-3 in the Division II ranks with the draw.
Cross country
The MHHS cross country teams welcomed East Providence, Tiverton and Bay View for a Metropolitan Division meet Monday, Oct. 5, over the 5-kilometer course at Bristol Town Beach.
The Huskies swept the Townies and Tigers on the boys' side, winning by the scores of 24-32 over EP and 15-50 over Tiverton.
Jacob Lopes and Alexander Deal ran second and third overall, respectively, for Mt. Hope in times of 18 minutes, 29 seconds and 18:50. East Providence's Cormac Moran won the race in 18:16.
Adam Cobb led the rest of the scorers for the Huskies with his fifth-place time of 19:19. Noah Rozea was right behind in sixth with a 19:22. Chase Aiksnoras was the fifth and final counting time for the locals, running eighth in 19:45.
Mt. Hope also swept the girls' portion of the meet, defeating both EP and Bay View by the same 15-50 scores.
Jourdan Cicchinelli led a 2-5 finish by Huskies, running second in 22:12 behind Bay View's Ada Murphy, who won the race in 21:52.
Evelyn Towers was third in 22:36 followed by Raegan McGinn in fourth with a 22:534 and Abby St. Pierre in fifth with a 23:55. Ellie Donovan was the fifth MHHS scorer in 12th overall with a 29:56.
Girls' tennis
The MHHS girls' tennis fell in a pair of recent Division II contests, 5-2 to North Smithfield and 7-0 to Portsmouth.
Kaia Brown picked up one of the points for the Huskies against the Northwomen with her 6-4, 6-1 win at first singles. Maggie Dufficy was a 3-and-0 winner at the second solo position. Emma Sorrentino dropped a tough, three-setter, 3-6 in the third, at fourth singles.
Brown and Dufficy also played the most competitive of the matches in the shutout loss to the Patriots, losing 2-and-4 and 2-and-3, respectively.
