To the editor:

We saw the very best of Portsmouth on display last weekend when the Portsmouth School Department joined the Portsmouth Concerned Citizens to offer a tour of historical landmarks to commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary. Over 50 families took part in this historical scavenger hunt, which culminated in a cookout at Glen Park attended by over 100 residents.

The collaboration, the work and the logistics that went into this successful event were an inspiration and a testament to the goodness that is abundant in the town of Portsmouth. Students, teachers, school administrators, volunteers and members of the Portsmouth Concerned Citizens worked together to educate and celebrate our great history.

Thank you to all those who played a part in this success. Thank you to the families and friends who came away from this event with a greater appreciation of the part Portsmouth played in the Revolutionary War and the years that followed it.
