Five reasons it's time for an override in Westport:
1. Required costs keep increasing while revenue is limited by Proposition 2.5.
2. Westport has not taken advantage of the override provision in the law.
3. For years the town has postponed filling needed positions resulting in reduced services.
4. Maintenance of town and school buildings has been put off, leading to increased costs.
5. With high inflation, Proposition 2.5 is unworkable without an override.
