The Bayside Family YMCA continues to break fundraising records with its annual golf tournament.
This year’s event — it was held Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Wannamoisett Country Club — marked the third straight year the tournament broke the previous mark in fundraising. The tournament brought in $91,741 for the Greater Providence YMCA. It brought together 104 golfers, community leaders and supporters for a day of golf in support of the Y's mission to make its programs accessible to all.
"Breaking our fundraising record for the third consecutive year speaks to the extraordinary generosity of the East Bay community," said Karen Santilli, CEO of the Greater Providence YMCA. "That generosity translates into real opportunities for local families. Through financial aid and scholarships, we're able to help more people access the programs, relationships and support that make the Y such an important part of this community."
The tournament surpassed last year's record-setting total of $81,060, continuing a three-year streak of growing community support. Money raised helps sustain the Bayside Family YMCA's financial aid and scholarship programs, ensuring that individuals and families across the East Bay can access YMCA membership, swim lessons, childcare and health and wellness programs regardless of their financial circumstances.
In the past year, the Bayside YMCA provided more than 1,000 families with a combined $404,000 in financial aid and other membership support, helping make the Y more affordable and accessible for the community it serves.
The Bayside Family YMCA Branch Council, chaired by Jeff Barton, played a vital role in planning and championing the tournament. Its ongoing leadership helps sustain this annual tradition and advance the YMCA’s commitment to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility throughout the East Bay.
This year's event featured friendly competition, raffles and contests at Wannamoisett Country Club. The Greater Providence YMCA extends its sincere thanks to Platinum Sponsors Malcolm Chace and Craig Dunlop with Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., whose leadership support helped make the tournament a success.
