What fun to create! What a thrill to admire! What pride to be rewarded with glowing praise from the judges!
These were the sentiments of the Hameho Garden Club members who enthusiastically participated in their in-house judged flower show on Oct. 8.
Held at the home of member Karen Weber, the show consisted of many arrangements in various categories displayed around the house as well as an assembly of horticulture specimens placed in the garage. The variety of types and sizes of dahlias displayed took up two long tables.
Best of show winner was Betsy Burns with her beautiful arrangement.
Best of horticulture winner was Sue Redden with her club challenge of ornamental oregano plant. Each member was given a starter plant and the challenge was to care for it for several months. Many did not survive, but Sue’s flourished.
The club offers many educational meetings at which members as well as guests are privy to learning from experts in many fields of the world of nature. Caring for several community gardens around town is a service for all to appreciate. Providing creative flower arranging programs and seasonal planting opportunities for residents at Atria Senior Living is a joy for all involved. Field trips to gardens and museums is always a hit.
