Five familiar faces and two challengers have won election to the non-Partisan Tiverton Town Council, where all seven seats were open.
With seven precincts reporting and early voting added to the total, Tiverton residents sent back five incumbents seeking reelection: Deborah G. Janick, Denise M. deMedeiros, Michael Burk, Craig R. Committo and President John G.Edwards.
They will be joined by two newcomers — Cheryl A. Valentine and Andrew Walsh. They will be replacing councilor David Perry and council Vice President David Paull, who finished 9th and 12th, respectively.
Janick, who received the highest number of votes among the 13 candidates on the ballot, expressed surprise and thankfulness.
“I am humbled and I am very thankful to all the voters out there who have entrusted me for two more years,” she said.
