EAST PROVIDENCE — The TD Bank branch located at the intersection of Newport and Pawtucket Avenues in the Rumford section of the city was robbed by at least one man mid-afternoon Tuesday, June 14.

Nearly a dozen East Providence Police officers and investigators were on the scene shortly after the event took place at approximately 2 p.m. Police did not make available the amount of money taken during the incident.

Later Tuesday, EPPD Detective Lieutenant Raymond Blinn issued the following statement, "This afternoon, at approximately 2 p.m., a bank robbery took place at the TD Bank located at 440 Newport Avenue in East Providence. No weapon was shown and no one was injured."

Police say the suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’5” in height with light colored hair. The suspect left the area on foot.
