Discover Warren welcomes visitors to annual fall 'Walkabouts'

Discover Warren hosts its annual fall "Walkabout" series around town the next two Sundays, October 18 and 25, each day from noon–5 p.m.

Visitors are invited to discover Warren’s shops, restaurants, galleries, artists and historic streets. Local businesses throughout town will open their doors for shopping, food, art, live music, demonstrations, special offers, pop-ups and activities.

“The Warren Walkabout is really about experiencing Warren at its best,” said Discover Warren's Meredith McBride. “You can wander into a shop you’ve never visited, listen to live music, watch an artist or maker at work, learn something about Warren’s history, grab something to eat and run into people you know along the way. There’s no one way to do the Walkabout—the fun is in exploring.”

One Map, Two Sundays, Many Ways to Explore

In an attempt to make the experience easier than ever, the group has launch of its first-ever interactive digital Walkabout map.

The new map puts the entire event at the fingertips of patrons, bringing together special events, music, food, participating businesses and parking in one convenient guide. Visitors can open it on their phones to explore Main Street, Water Street and beyond, plan ahead or decide where to wander next.

Special Events & Experiences

The Walkabout includes several ways to view and enjoy the town's arts and culinary scenes.

  • Live pottery throwing at Made in Warren. Visitors can watch a potter at work outside the shop.
  • Expanded re-DISH collection at DISH. The Warren women’s clothing boutique will offer an extended selection of carefully chosen, gently worn pieces that fit the DISH aesthetic and values, giving shoppers a chance to discover something special while embracing a more sustainable approach to fashion.
  • Mudstone Studios’ famous “Ugly Sale” at 30 Cutler Street. The annual clearance event features deeply discounted ceramic seconds, experimental pieces and one-of-a-kind misfits created by local students, studio members and professional artists. The popular sale is a chance to find wonderfully imperfect handmade ceramics at special prices.
  • Free historic walking tours of Warren. Offered two to three times each Sunday depending on sign-ups. Guided tours offer an opportunity to learn about the people, places and stories behind one of Rhode Island’s most historic communities.
  • Collaborative public art project on Main Street. Returning for another year and inviting everyone—from children to seasoned artists and anyone in between—to contribute.
  • Seb’s Pizza truck. Returning to Water Street on Sunday, October 25.
  • Local makers and handmade ceramics are part of the Walkabout experience. Photo supplied by Discover Warren.
