The Bristol Police Department is investigating the origin of fliers found along the Bristol 4th of July parade route that advertise a self-proclaimed “pro-white” New England nationalist social club.

The “New England Nationalist Social Club” describes itself in the flier as a “pro-white, street-oriented fraternity dedicated to raising authentic resistance to the enemies of our people in the New England area.” It goes on, “This takes the form of networking, training, activism, outreach, and above all, action.”

One version of the flier — at least three variations were shared with us by a reader who found some of them — specifically mentions, “We oppose the criminal anti-American & anti-white street gangs such as MS13, Black Lives Matter, and Antifa. We are for us, by us, and against those against us.”

Major Brian Burke of the Bristol Police said that fliers were found or reported by residents in four locations scattered along the roadway near the northern end of Metacom Avenue and along the parade route between Constitution and Burton Streets on July 5 and July 6.

Burke said that, although there is no direct threatening language within the fliers, the incident is currently being investigated, along with other municipal departments who he said had found similar fliers in their communities. One incident involving similar fliers being found near the Gordon School in East Providence resulted in the arrests of two men on June 21 — 32-year-old Stephen Farrea of Portsmouth and 26-year-old Austin Coni of Arizona. More fliers were found in Providence on July 4.

“As far as the Bristol Police is concerned this is the first time such fliers or leaflets have been found in town from this alleged group,” Burke said.
