As a junior, Boudria scored his 1000th point of his career. In his senior season he became Westport High School’s most prolific scorer, breaking Mike Noonan’s all-time scoring record of 1580 points set back in 2002-2006, during the Wildcats home playoff win over Avon in the round of 16 in March. 

Boudria eclipsed the mark and scored a whopping 1655 points for his career. During his senior season he scored over 30 points in nine straight games and scored over 40 points twice. 

In scoring that many points, one would think Boudria to be a 3-point shooting specialist. While the sinewy athletic star could shoot the three, it was his It was his uncanny knack of finding way to get to the basket and his unfathomable competitive spirit, that enabled him to become Westport’s all-time scorer. 

Against Holbrook on senior night, Boudria was again at his best, scoring a game high 33 points in every way possible—“The athletic Boudria slithered his way to the basket from all angles with the quickness and grace of a gazelle. He made layups, 3-pointers, jumpers and a giant-sized dunk that induced the Westport crowd into a frenzy. The senior was also good defensively, swiping 7 balls and pulling down 5 rebounds.”

Boudria was a master at stealing the ball with his quickness, athletic agility, arm span and speed, he made 308 career steals and dished out 522 assists. He also was a solid rebounder and shot-blocker, though most times not being the tallest player on the court at just 6 feet tall. He grabbed 763 career rebounds and made 237 career blocks.

“I’m hyped, I’m hyped,” Owen said after the game. “I’m so proud of my boys. They really stepped up. It was a back and forth fight the whole time. We just stayed mentally tough.”

“We gave it all that we had,” said a disappointed Owen Boudria. “To make the final four is a hard thing. Especially as the 11th seed. Nobody was thinking that we would make it this far. But I knew it. I knew we were going to make a deep run. But I really didn’t expect it to end like this. We were one stop away from having a chance to win the state championship. I couldn’t be more-proud of the guys. It was a great run.”

“We don’t score half our points without Owen,” said Coach Scot Boudria. “…This is the end of his high school career. He’s heartbroken. I told he and Cole before the game, that there’s not better times in your life than this. Not too many people can say that they played in a final four.”

 

Boudria is being recruited by Roger Williams, Salve Regina and Emerson College and takes honors classes in Biology and pre-calculus.
