The Bayside Family YMCA’s 3rd annual Cycle for Your Cause raised more than $15,500, which will support children and families in need throughout Bristol, Warren, and Barrington.

The event, which drew more than 130 riders from dozens of communities, even including some virtual riders, helps YMCA provide scholarships and assistance to those who need it most.

“This year’s event exceeded our expectations and continues to grow each year,” said Michael Squatrito, executive director of the Bayside Family YMCA. “At the Y, no child, family or adult is turned away. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must have the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.”

Programs supported by the annual campaign include Livestrong at the YMCA for cancer survivors, swim lessons and water safety, Race 4 Chase, a kid’s triathlon, summer camp, families impacted by addiction, veterans, and Pedaling for Parkinson’s.

Craig Dunlap said his daughter Elizabeth was riding to support the Race 4 Chase program at the YMCA.

“She has found it extraordinarily helpful in her rehab from a broken growth plate in her foot in 2018 and spinal cord surgery in 2019,” said Mr. Dunlap. “She also learned how to ride a bike, which has given her a boost in confidence and has made many terrific friends along the way."

YMCA officials said there is still time to contribute to the campaign. People should visit www.cycleforyourcause.org for more information.
