Barrington police are investigating the theft of manhole covers and collars on a number of local roads.

According to police, an official from the company hired to repave a number of Barrington roads reported on Tuesday, Sept. 19, that 19 manhole covers and collars had been stolen. The alleged thefts occurred on Federal Road, Anoka Avenue and Prince's Hill Road.

On Friday, Sept. 22, police responded to the Maple Avenue area after a resident spotted the vehicle that had allegedly been involved with the missing manhole covers. Police checked out the tip and may have a suspect.
