A blend of Bruce Moffett's New England past and his new Southern culture are featured throughout the pages of his new cookbook, "Bruce Moffett Cooks: A New England Chef in a New South Kitchen."

Mr. Moffett grew up in town and developed his love of cooking in his family's West Barrington home. That love continued to grow after college and blossomed while working at some of the top restaurants in Boston.

In 2000, Mr. Moffett moved to Charlotte, N.C. and opened his own restaurant — he named it Barrington's. Over the years, Mr. Moffett has built a restaurant empire in Charlotte that currently includes Barrington’s, Good Food on Montford, and Stagioni. He also has plans for two new restaurants: N.C. Red will be opening in March 2019, and Bao + Broth will be opening late spring 2019.

Mr. Moffett spent more than a year working on his new cookbook; Keia Mastrianni helped write the book, which is being published by The University of North Carolina Press. It features more than 100 recipes ranging from "pickled butternut squash ribbons" to "creamy spring onion soup" to "pecan-crusted lamb with chipotle BBQ sauce."

"Bruce Moffett Cooks" also includes recipes for salads, pizza, pasta, breads and desserts.

"I’ve found so much joy in cooking and sharing meals with others,” said Mr. Moffett. “I wanted to create a book that enables the aspiring or expert chef to cook a fantastic meal right from the comfort of their home. If someone wants to learn how to cook high-quality meals with simple and clear steps, or even needs a cookbook to nudge them into the kitchen, this book is for them.”

The new cookbook is available for presale on Amazon.
