A Barrington home that once served as the counting house for the Nayatt Brick Company sold recently for $1.9 million.
The home at 10 Nayatt Road features four bedrooms and three bathrooms and rests along Mussachuck Creek.
The main level’s living room and dining room offer cathedral ceilings, while the primary suite enjoys views of Narragansett Bay along with a spa-like bath. The kitchen opens to a stone patio with its own built-in pizza oven.
Originally built in 1865, the center portion of the home once served as the counting house for the Nayatt Brick Company, which was founded in 1847. After the railroad was built in 1855, the company became the town’s major manufacturer.
According to the Barrington Preservation Society, structures built with Nayatt Brick Company bricks include St. John’s Church and Leander Peck School (Barrington Public Library); the Providence Biltmore Hotel, the Providence railway station, Brown University’s John Hay Library, and decorative sidewalks in Providence and as far away as Wilmington, Del.
Residential Property’s Clancy & Orchard Team represented the buyer in the transaction.
