The Barrington High School softball team overwhelmed East Greenwich 21-1 on Monday, April 10, and improved to 2-0 on the season. East Greenwich fell to 0-3.

Paige Concannon finished the game with three hits, driving in three runs and scored four times to lead Barrington's offense. Lauren Grove added three hits of her own and drove in two runs.

Katrina Kelley and Alison Senechel shared pitching duties and limited the Avengers to two hits. Barrington, which finished with 16 hits, scored 14 runs in the second inning.

The lop-sided win for Barrington was its second in two games, as the Eagles rolled over Davies 17-1 on Friday, April 7.

Sydney Parkhurst had three hits, including two home runs, and drove in four runs for the Eagles. Alex Marinelli added two hits and drove in one. Kelley pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
