Dreams of a Division I girls soccer championship came to an end for Barrington on Wednesday night, Oct. 28.

The Eagles, seeded ninth in the playoff bracket, lost to top-seeded LaSalle, 3-1, in a quarterfinal match-up in Providence.

“Overall, I’m really proud of the team this season,” wrote Barrington High School Coach Sue Silva. “The program is definitely heading in the right direction. No matter what happens on the field, the girls bring positive energy, work hard, and keep their composure without letting the ‘uncontrollables’ get to them.”

LaSalle scored three first-half goals and carried a 3-0 lead into the break. Barrington cut into the lead when Molly Thurston buried a penalty kick in the second half. BHS goalie Zoe Dyer finished with five saves in net.

The loss marks the end of the season for the Eagles.

“The senior class will be missed and I cannot thank them enough for being great leaders this year for the entire program. It will continue to become impactful for years to come,” Silva wrote.
