Knights of Columbus host annual youth free throw contest

PORTSMOUTH — Before they presumably hunkered down for the weekend winter storm, a group of local sharpshooters came out to the Bradley School gym Saturday morning and showed off their skills from 15 feet out.

The event was the 2017 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship, open to boys and girls ages 9 to 14, held at the gym behind St. Anthony’s Church.

Grand prizes of new basketballs were awarded to the two overall winners: Kendall Ferris, 13, and Carson Conheeny, 12. They now qualify for the state level of competition.

Certificates were handed out to the winners in each age division for boys and girls, and all contestants on the local level were recognized for their participation.
