Portsmouth’s impressive season ends with semifinal loss
Patriots eliminated by La Salle, 72-48
PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Patriots boys’ varsity basketball team didn’t have another big upset in them on Sunday, falling to La Salle Academy in the Division I semifinals, 72-48.
Riding high after upsetting No. 2-seeded Barrington in the quarterfinals with a 79-61 blowout win on Feb. 27, the Patriots couldn’t muster the same kind of offense against the No. 3-seeded Rams at the Murray Center at Rhode Island College.
La Salle advanced to play Classical in the championship game on Wednesday, March 6.
