Portsmouth Pop Warners 10U team wins in quarterfinals
14U team loses to East Bay
PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Pop Warners 10U team beat the East Bay Warriors, 13-8, in the quarterfinals held Sunday.
The Patriots will play Taunton in the semifinals this weekend. If they win, they’ll play in the Rhode Island Southeastern Massachusetts Football (RISMA) championship game on Nov. 6 in Portsmouth.
The Portsmouth 14U team lost to East Bay, 19-16.
The 6U team is not in a playoff-eligible division, but will compete in the Tiny Mite Bowl on Oct. 29. The 8U and 12U teams did not qualify for playoffs.
Cheerleaders shine, too
The Portsmouth Pop Warners cheerleaders competed in the RISMA competition Sunday, with the junior-varsity team placing first and the Junior PeeWee team placing second.
Both will move onto the regional competition in Springfield, Mass. the weekend of Nov. 12.
