PORTSMOUTH — A 33-year-old Fall River woman was charged last week with forgery and counterfeiting registration plates, as well as giving a false document to an agent or public official.

At about 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15, officers pulled over a vehicle driven by Hortencia Passos Monteiro, of 203 Tremont St., on West Main Road at Scotty Drive.

Officers later determined that the vehicle’s registration plate was fraudulent, as was its registration document, according to police.

Passos Monteiro was processed at police headquarters and issued a 2nd District Court summons.

Here are some other recent arrests made by Portsmouth Police:

Thursday, March 14

Rita, 47, of 3636 North Main St., Apt. 4, Fall River, was arrested on an affidavit warrant around 6:40 p.m. Rita was pulled over on Park Avenue at Teddy’s Beach for running a stop sign, according to police. He was wanted by the Tiverton Police Department for obtaining money under false pretenses, police said. He was booked and later transferred to the custody of Tiverton Police.

Maurice Antonio Sol, 33, of 48 Ruben St., Apt. B12, Fall River, was arrested on a Superior Court bench warrant after being pulled over on West Main Road at the Valley Inn around 8:30 a.m. He was also charged with driving without an active license, police said.

Ronald Souza, 65, of 3266 East Main Road, Apt. 2, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense, at about 6:35 p.m. Officers were advised to be on the lookout for a gray Honda which was reportedly being driven by a man who appeared disoriented, according to police. A short time later, patrol officers located the vehicle, which was parked and occupied by Souza at his home. Souza was also cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test, police said. He was issued a District Court summons and released from custody, then transported by the Portsmouth Fire Department to Newport Hospital for an evaluation, according to police.
