Portsmouth Police arrest passenger in car on drug charge

PORTSMOUTH — A 44-year-old Middletown woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance on Wednesday, March 17.

Stephanie J. Brady, of 31 West Main Road, Middletown, was a passenger in a vehicle that had been pulled over for a traffic violation at 2461 East Main Road around 6:35 p.m. 

According to police, a narcotics search for the vehicle found she was in possession of a small amount of a substance believed to be heroin. 

Ms. Brady was taken into custody and held at the police station until her arraignment the following morning.

Here are some other recent highlights from the Portsmouth Police report:

Wednesday, March 17

Sarah M. Rodrigues, 31, of 3 Cathy Circle, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after being pulled over on East Main Road at McCorrie Lane shortly before 8 p.m. She was also cited fore refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Saturday, March 20

Scott C. Naisbitt, 34, of 5 Princeton St., Apt. B, Newport, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after his vehicle was pulled over on West Main Road at Melville School around 10:35 p.m. after it was observed swaying ice to side, police said. Police had received a be-on-the-lookout alert from Bristol Police for a man who had recently been involved in the domestic verbal argument in that town. The man, later identified as Mr. Naisbitt, was said to be highly intoxicated upon leaving the scene, according to police. Ms. Naisbitt was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.
