PORTSMOUTH — Both of the Portsmouth High tracked field teams placed second among 11 teams in the Eastern Divisional Championship meet held over the weekend.

The girls finished with 122.5 points, second to Barrington with 236.5. The boys, likewise, also placed behind Barrington (265.5 points), with 134.5.

The boys set 26 personal bests as well as a new school record: junior Landon Rodrigues ran the 110-meter hurdles in 15.2 seconds, beating Colt Nichols’s previous mark of 15.33 set in 2017. Rodrigues came in second in that event, as well as the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 43.2 seconds.

The Patriots proved how deep a team they are with their three event winners — two sophomores and a freshmen. They were Aidan Chen in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches), Tristan Thomas in the pole vault (11 feet, 6 inches), and Sean Gray in the 3,000-meter run (9:30.1). On the girls’ side, PHS senior Morgan Casey won the high jump with a best effort of 5 feet, 3 inches — a full 4 inches higher than her nearest rival. She also came in second in the triple jump (32 feet, 7 inches).

Sophomore Allie Kaull came in second in both the 3,000-meter run (11:24.88) and the 1,500-meter run (5:05.09).

Rowan Snyder, a sophomore, took second place in the pole vault with a best effort of 8 feet, 6 inches. The girls’ 4x800-meter relay squad of Hanalei Streuli, Alexandra Cousineau, Reilly Prado and Addie Dalton came in second in a time of 10:56.48.
