PORTSMOUTH — She’s only 16, but Portsmouth’s Thais Jackson already has a commitment to attend West Point, aka The U.S. Military Academy.

Thais, a student at at St Mark’s School in Southborough, Mass., just committed to play lacrosse at No. 13-ranked West Point. She’ll be a member of the Class of 2029.

The natural lefty attack player led St. Mark’s and her club team, Rev Lacrosse, in goals and total points. She was selected as an Under Armour 150, and a U.S. Club Lacrosse 2025 Rising Star.

Thais has earned All-Independent School League and MVP honors while at St. Mark’s. She also plays varsity hockey and soccer for the school while maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average.

Thais started playing Little Scoopers at age 5 with Portsmouth Youth Lacrosse, with Sara Dionne of Portsmouth as her coach. She worked her way to become the top face-off player in the state and was the top scorer for Portsmouth to win the 2021 Division I 8th-Grade State Championship against East Bay. That winning team was coached by Little Compton resident Brian Skeels. 

She trains with Anthony Tingley at Island Athletics in Portsmouth, and was a youth lacrosse coach at the Beach Dogs camp at the Glen in Portsmouth this past summer.

Thais’s father, Colin Jackson, served in Afghanistan in 2011 and is currently in the U.S. Army Reserves. Her oldest brother, Karl, is an active-duty second lieutenant infantry officer in the Army.
