PORTSMOUTH — Lisa Lasky of Bristol was recently appointed as the Town of Portsmouth’s new finance director.

The Portsmouth Town Council on Feb. 8 voted unanimously to ratify Town Administrator Richard Rainer Jr.’s appointment of Ms. Lasky, who succeeds Lisa Mills. Ms. Mills recently announced her intention of leaving to take another municipal job elsewhere.

Mr. Rainer said 26 people overall applied for the position, and Ms. Lasky was one of three finalists interviewed.

Ms. Lasky is a certified public accountant who has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Rhode Island.

“In addition to an impressive background in tax and audit accounting, she has successfully served as chief financial office in both the corporate and government realms,” Mr. Rainer said. “She is adept in financial management and analysis, budgeting, contract management, financial report writing, and strategic planning.”

Ms. Lasky most recently served as the chief financial officer for the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation.
