Townies fall to Cumberland in division title game
PROVIDENCE — The 2019 edition of the East Providence High School Unified Volleyball League team, which brings together Special Needs student-athletes with their peers from the general population, completed play this fall with a 2-1 loss to Cumberland in the Division 6 playoff championship game at the Wildcat Center on the Johnson & Wales University Harborside Campus Sunday afternoon, Nov. 3.
The program is a combined effort of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League and Special Olympics-Rhode Island.
The 2019 EPHS team roster included: Maya Bastanzi, Kelsy Gouveia, Shane Lavin, Issiah Lopes, Daniella Medeiros, Ethan Medeiros, Brett Nadrowski, Alexis Rosa, Joseph Santana, Denzel Sivels, Kyle Soares, Tyler Soares, Arianna Sparks, Amy Tewksbury, Tyler Tewksbury and Alex Vieira. Kristen Coutoulakis and Dana Brodin are the coaches.
