Dozens from the Mt. Hope High School community traveled to Hamden, Conn., last weekend to participate in a special event; a loving tribute to a local young man gone too soon.
The Quinnipiac University 1929 Fund Club hosted its annual 5K run Saturday, Sept. 19, in honor and memory of former student Thomas Godbout, a Bristol resident who succumbed to leukemia in June of 2025.
Godbout was a 2024 graduate of Mt. Hope High School who played hockey for the Huskies and was a member of Quinnipiac's Class of 2028. He was enrolled in the university's Biomedical Sciences program.
All proceeds from the run benefitted the 1929 Fund Scholarship, which supports Quinnipiac students in need. Since its founding in 2021, the 1929 Fund has raised more than $125,000 for student scholarships, funding over $75,000 in scholarships to 14 students in recent years. The year 1929 references Quinnipiac's founding as the Connecticut College of Commerce.
