Market Street Pub wins Warren Women's Softball League title

Ends two-year reign of Chaos

A past champion was trying to regain glory while the two-time reigning winners of the title were seeking a three-peat when No. 1-seeded Market Street Pub met second-seeded and defenders Chaos Thursday night, Aug. 27, in the 2026 Warren Women's Softball League final at Jamiel Park.

And it was the former winners who came out on top as Market Street got the better of Chaos, 8-5, to reclaim the championship.

The Pub scored seven times in the top of the first inning and later added another run in the top of the fourth.

Chaos got one back in the home half of the first, chipped away with two more in the second but could just add solo tallies in the fourth and sixth.

Market Street last won the title in 2023. Chaos had taken the last two in a row and three of the previous four trophies.

The Pub's first-inning explosion didn't make the rest of the game anticlimactic as Chaos gradually made things tighter, but it did prove decisive.

With one out, Monica Tavares and Jennifer Quental reached on hits to put two on. Following another out, Emily Masse walked to load the bases. Kat Davock, Maddie Castigliego, Kerri Furtado (the winning pitcher) and Dom Latessa then each drove in runs with hits to account for the seven tallies.

Market Street's other run came in the fourth and again with two out. Krista Varichione tripled and scored a Tavares single.

Chaos' first run came in the bottom of the first on consecutive singles by Jill Lewis, Kristin Furtado, Janelle Kern and Courtney Ferreira. The champs next loaded the bases, but the response was thwarted when Pub shortstop Emily Masse scooped up a grounder near the bag and threw to Latessa for an inning-ending, rally-killing double-play.

In the third, the holders scratched out two more after Carissa Rego and Lewis reached then came around on a Kelly Reiss hit. Katie Rowland scored their run in the fourth. And Kern came all the way around on a hit and miscues by Market Street in the sixth.

"They've been our rival for the past three years. Last year, we were so balled up about playing them in the championship, we didn't even get to the championship," said Pub co-coach Lisa Medici, referring her side's loss in the 2025 semifinals to Sluggers.

"They've been our rival for the past three years. Last year, we were so balled up about playing them in the championship, we didn't even get to the championship," said Pub co-coach Lisa Medici, referring her side's loss in the 2025 semifinals to Sluggers.

Said Market Street's other co-coach and Pub owner along with her family Jodi Davock, "It's nice to come back and actually win it and win again...We brought in some new young kids. Emily is new. Grace is new, Krista's new. Maddie is new. So we've been building up as the years went on. We picked up one. We're going home. We picked up two. Yeah. We picked up a third. And this year we got ahead. And we're getting older. We have a lot of injuries on the team. So it was nice to see the young ones show out."

Added Medici, "The old people are happy to sit it out."

The sides had similar roads to the championship game. Not only did they place 1-2 in the regular season standings — Market Street went 14-4 and Chaos 13-5 — they each coasted to victories in their semifinal games two evenings earlier.

Market Street defeated fourth-seeded Misfits, 17-5, in six innings in Tuesday's opening semi. Chaos then closed the night by beating third-seeded Sluggers, 16-2, in five innings.
