East Providence firefighters climb 110 stories in 9/11 tribute

Posted

On Friday, September 11, 2026 East Providence and Rehoboth firefighters joined together at City View Manor in East Providence to participate in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, climbing the equivalent of 110 stories, the height of the World Trade Center towers to ensure that the sacrifices made by first responders on 9/11 are never forgotten.

Five members of the East Providence Fire Department and five members of the Rehoboth Volunteer Fire Department participated in the tribute, part of a nationwie movement honoring the 343 New York City Fire Department firefighters who died during the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001.

Collaboration between the East Providence and Rehoboth Fire Departments came from East Providence resident and Rehoboth Firefighter, Sydney Grilo, bringing the Memorial Stair Climb efforts forward.
