Letter: Not surprised with the name-calling at the Barrington Senior Center

To the editor:

I was pleased to read the article and to see the video online of Congressman Amo's visit to the Barrington Senior Center this past week.

In my many years of living in Barrington, I often helped to run political forums through the League of Women Voters and the Barrington Democratic Town Committee to inform residents about who is running for office and where they stand on important issues.

I have always had a great deal of respect of people in town who attended these forums and how they always treated candidates with respect.

There were a few people in attendance who did not treat Mr. Amo with respect, but in this awful political climate I am not surprised that someone called Mr. Amo a liar and another person started going off on Hunter Biden.

I miss the old days, when Republicans and Democrats ran against each other in a cordial and respectful atmosphere.

We need more of that in today's society. We also need a more informed electorate!
