A caller from Route 88 and Hix Bridge Road lodged an animal complaint just before 7 a.m. A similar call came in from Beeden Road at 6:52 p.m.

Westport police logs: Two DUIs this week

Monday, August 7

A caller from Route 88 and Hix Bridge Road lodged an animal complaint just before 7 a.m. A similar call came in from Beeden Road at 6:52 p.m.

A South Berryman Street caller complained of larceny, forgery or fraud at 4:03 p.m.

A resident reported an accident on Route 88 and Hix Bridge Road at 6:07 p.m. Another was called in from Main Road at 6:44 p.m.

A caller from Nick’s Way reported suspicious activity at 8:56 p.m.

Police pulled over five vehicles and issued three citations over the course of the day.

Tuesday, August 8

A caller reported a suspicious car at Sanford and State roads at 2:24 a.m. Police deemed the report unfounded. A similar call, made via 911, came in from Ridgeline Drive at 10:47 p.m.

A caller from American Legion Highway reported a motor vehicle violation at 12:26 p.m.

A 911 caller from Briggs Road reported a disturbance at 4:55 p.m.

Police pulled over four vehicles and issued two citations over the course of the day.

Wednesday, August 9

A caller from East Beach Road reported a disabled car; police went out and assisted.

A Sodom Road caller reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 12:04 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a suspicious person on Fisher Road at 2:44 p.m.

A 911 caller lodged an animal complaint from Sodom Road and Narrow Avenue at 4:09 p.m. A similar call came in from Highland Road at 6:51 p.m.

A stolen car was reportedly recovered on Hix Bridge Road at 8:30 p.m.

Police pulled over seven vehicles and issued three citations over the course of the day.

Thursday, August 10

A caller from Adamsville Road reported an accident at 2:56 a.m. Police deemed the report unfounded. Another, called in via 911, came in at 11:15 a.m. from Amercicna Legion Highway. A third was called in from Briggs and Gifford roads at 4:57 p.m.

A caller from Gifford Road reported a breaking and entering at 9:37 a.m.

A caller from Main Road reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 11:24 a.m.

A caller from Gifford Road reported a suspicious vehicle at 1:02 p.m.

Animal complaints, lodged via 911, came in from Route 88 at Old County Road at 5:40 p.m.

Police pulled over two vehicles and issued two citations over the course of the day.

Friday, August 11

Police tried but were unable to serve a warrant at a Tickle Road address at 1:37 a.m.

A caller from American Legion Highway reported an accident at 5:41 a.m. Another, called in via 911 from Old Bedford Road at 12:04 p.m., resulted in an arrest. Bryan Souza, 64, of 66 Davis Road, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, operating a motor vehicle as to endanger, failing to stop for police, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and was cited for an equipment violation.

A caller reported an illegally parked vehicle on Hillcrest Acres just before 3 p.m.

A caller reported a suspicious car on Horseneck Road at 6:35 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Wendy’s Drive at 7:12 p.m.

A Cornell Road caller lodged animal complaints at 8:48 p.m.

Police pulled over six vehicles and issued three citations over the course of the day.

Saturday, August 12

Tanya K. Hall, 40, of 315 E. Main St., Apt. 4, Fall River, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, a marked lanes violation, a lights violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, after police pulled her over at 1:58 a.m. at State Road and North Berryman Street.

A caller lodged animal complaints from Route 88 and Hix Bridge Road at 9:36 a.m.

A caller reported a motor vehicle violation on Old County Road at 9:46 a.m. A similar call came in from American Legion Highway at 3:08 p.m.

A caller from Beeden Road reported a civil dispute at 4:23 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident on Sanford Road at 4:42 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on East Briggs Road at 11:52 p.m.

Police pulled over four vehicles and issued two citations over the course of the day.

Sunday, August 13

Police pulled over eight vehicles and issued four citations over the course of the day.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
