Peter D. Tripp, formerly of Westport

Peter Dennett Tripp passed away on April 4, 2019, in Modesto, California, where he had lived for the last 52 years. He was born July 1, 1932 in Fall River, the son of Alice and Borden Tripp of Westport Harbor.

He attended Moses Brown and Tabor Academy and graduated from Umass Amherst in 1956. He served in the Marine Corps as a drill instructor at Parris Island during the Korean conflict and was later stationed at Marine Headquarters in Washington, DC.

He ran Bojuma Farm at Westport Harbor until the mid 1960s. After his move to California he worked for the USDA and then as a production manager at Tri-Valley Growers.

He was married to Mary Chase Heaton in 1955, and, after a divorce, was married to Frankie Streit. He leaves a son, William Chase Tripp (Donna) of Oakdale, California, as well as a daughter, Anne Mendoza (Steve) of New Jersey. He leaves two grandsons, Andrew Chase Tripp and Michael Heaton Tripp of California, and a sister, Anne T. Hopkins of Westport. He leaves three step-daughters, Susan Wahlrab Perkins of Vermont, Peri Wahlrab McGuiness of Michigan, and Lindi Wahlrab McGuiness of California, as well as five step-grandchildren. A service will be held in California.
