Warren PD releases details on morning standoff

Posted

On April 26, 2022, at 6:30 a.m., Warren Police Department officers were dispatched to 37 Warren Ave. for a male reported to have been shooting a bedroom door inside the first-floor apartment.

Warren Police received a phone call from a female advising that her adult son (Age: 28) was in his bedroom inside the first-floor apartment while another resident, later identified as Silvia Damico (Age: 44), was shooting a BB gun at his bedroom door. The same report also included information that Damico may also have a silver handgun in his possession or in his bedroom.

Once on scene, the son was able to be safely removed from the residence and attempts to make contact with Damico were unable to be made, other than Damico looking out the window. Due to a concern for the safety of the neighboring houses, residents were relocated while a perimeter was set up around 37 Warren Ave. When no other contact was able to be made with Damico, the Rhode Island State Police Tactical Team was contacted and responded to the scene to assist. Upon their arrival, Damico was then safely taken into custody without incident.

At this time, Silvio Damico is being charged with Firing in a Compact Area, Disorderly Conduct, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Crime of Violence, and will be transported to Sixth District Court to be arraigned. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
