Robert J. Bento Sr., 77, Warren

Robert J. Bento, Sr., 77, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of RI. He was the husband of Sandra A. (Fratus) Bento, to whom he was married 54 years.

Born in Fall River, MA, a son of the late Joseph and the late Alice (Silvia), he was a long-time resident of Warren.

The owner and operator of R. J. Bento Construction for many years, he was also the Head of Maintenance for the Warren School Department, a R.I.P.T.A. Bus Driver and a shuttle bus driver for Roger Williams University. A Chairman of the Warren Zoning Board, he was a member of the town Democratic Party and Warren Veterans Honor Roll Committee.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Robert J. Bento, Jr and John C. Bento, both of Warren, Bradley R. Bento and his former wife Michele of Warwick and Michael J. Bento and his wife Loriann of Bristol; a sister, Judith Fardig; a brother, James Bento; and five grandsons, John B., Brandon B., Nathaniel R., Jacob L. and Zachary M. Bento. He was the brother of the late Joseph and William Bento and Paulette Daubresse.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 9 AM from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main St., Warren. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4 to 7 PM. Burial will be in Warren South Burial Ground.
