The Warren Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association is holding the Fourth Annual (with a year off for COVID) “Learn to Row Day” at the Warren Town beach on Saturday, June 4. All are welcome and it is free.

Association members will have a large collection of small dinghies and rowboats on hand, as well as two larger crew boats, a six-oared gig and a four-oared dory that the group rows on a regular basis from the Warren Town Wharf. Everyone can stop by the beach and try out one or more boats.

Organizer Rock Singewald said there are practical considerations concerning younger children. Their parents need to be present and the kids must be large enough to handle a boat. All safety equipment, including lifejackets, will be provided.

The event is insured and was approved by the Town Council, Harbor Management Commission, and the Parks and Recreation Department, he said.

“It’ll be fun, especially for people who have never been out on the river,” Singewald said. “The view of Town from the water is really beautiful.”
Learn to Row Day runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 at the Warren Town beach.
