Grand gesture will light the lights for the Class of 2020

Posted

The Bristol Warren school community is planning a symbolic show of support for the Class of 2020 — Mt. Hope High School seniors whose final, should-be triumphant days in school are being wiped away in cancellations and uncertainty. As the nation's coronavirus lockdown and social-distancing guidelines persist, the Class of 2020 students don't know when they will see each other again, or if they'll even have a graduation ceremony.

To support them, groups are organizing a public gesture this Monday, April 20, 2020. At precisely 8:20 p.m., the lights at the Mt. Hope football field will be lit in honor of the students, and they will remain lit for 20 minutes.

The gesture is also intended to honor medical personnel who are on the front lines of the epidemic and senior citizens who have been cut off from the rest of the world in quarantine. Residents are being encouraged to also shine a light in their window as a show of support.

WHEN: 20:20 p.m. on 4/20/2020
