Seasons Market discussion continues Tuesday in Tiverton

Members of the Tiverton Planning Board are expected to continue talks on the Seasons Corner Market proposal at their next meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 13. The applicant, Colbea Enterprises LLC of Cranston, wants to build a 24-hour convenience store, gas station and drive-through coffee shop at the corner of Souza and Main roads in the northern part of town, but have run into fierce criticism from nearby residents and others, who worried in previous meetings about the development's impact on traffic congestion, crime, the environment, noise levels, property values and more.

At Tuesday's meeting, board members will likely review the results of a traffic study called for by the Town of Tiverton, and paid for by Colbea, after an earlier traffic study done by the development company didn't satisfy residents' questions. Critics said the study was not reliable since it was conducted in March 2021 – when many were still working remotely due to the pandemic and when the effects of summer seasonal traffic were not considered.
