Alice T. Milotte of Tiverton passed away on Tuesday April 2, 2019, at the age of 94. She was born in Fall River to Manuel Tavares and Francelina (Silvia) Tavares. Alice was the wife of the late Joseph A. Milotte, DMD.

She attended business school in Fall River and assisted her husband with his dental practice. She was an avid tennis player, and enjoyed walking her dogs in her neighborhoods Nanaquaket and Seapowet.

“Nan,” as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, taught them to play golf with a makeshift green on her sprawling lawn. She loved hosting family and friends at her poolside barbecues sipping her favorite pina coladas. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother she will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her six children, Barbara A. Milotte of Tiverton,Donald R. Milotte and his wife Elaine Cohen of Newburyport, Mass., Frances T. Milotte of Dartmouth, Mass., Diane M. Rustad of Portsmouth, Jane Cerrone of Rehoboth, Mass., and Janet Tepot of Tiverton.

Funeral services will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to the Faxon Animal Care and Adoption, Fall River, MA.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
