Warren police logs: Animal control officer busy this week

Monday, April 17

A black lab chased after a letter carrier on Canario Drive just after 2 p.m. The animal control officer spoke to the owner.

Someone complained about a person burning leaves at a Seymour Street address. It turned out to be a person burning logs in a fire pit.

A Barden Lane woman called police after looking into the woods behind her home and spotting a man in the trees.

Tuesday, April 18

A caller from Metacom Avenue reported spotting and extinguishing a small mulch fire.

A chicken was spotted strutting loose around Buffalo Avenue.

Someone called in to report seeing a swan on Child Street. The bird was shooed over to a side yard.

Loose cattle took a stroll on Libby Lane.

Wednesday, April 14

Police got a report that a man was acting strangely on Main Street. Turns out he was waiting for a bus, and was pacing back and forth, upset that he’d missed an earlier bus.

Thursday, April 20

Alex B. Correia, 18, of 385 Metacom Ave., Apt. 2E, was charged with firing in a compact area and vandalism/malicious injury to property, after police got a call about a man shooting a BB gun near Metacom Avenue.

Polcie got a call about a possible drunk driver on Kickemuit Road.

A cell phone was reported stolen from Asylum Road.

Daniel L. Everett, 47, of 68 Wood St., second floor, was picked up on a warrant for domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

Friday, April 21

A Mason Street man complained about being harassed on Facebook.

A Barney Street woman complained that a man attempted to take trash from her yard without her permission. Police issued a no trespass order.

Marissa A. Guild, 26, of 460 Water St., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after a caller reported that a driver struck a parked car on Water.

Saturday, April 22

A caller from Child Street called the police after discovering what he thought was a raccoon “in” his ceiling. It turned out to be a cat.

A caller reported seeing a coyote in a field off Market Street.

A Metacom Avenue man reported being harassed by a neighbor, but the neighbor denied it. A few hours later, a similar call came in from a Joyce Street resident.

Sunday, April 23

Items were reported stolen from a home on Crescent Street.

Maryory Alvarado, 51, of 24 Martin St., was charged with disorderly conduct after police were asked to check on the well-being of a highly intoxicated woman on Market Street.

A caller from Paul Court reported illegal dumping in a nearby field.

Monday, April 24

A caller from Arlington Avenue complained that the neighbors were making too much noise.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
