Warren PD: More items stolen from cars throughout town

Warren police made three arrests and investigated more reports of items being stolen from cars between July 17-24, 2023.

Warren PD: More items stolen from cars throughout town

Monday, July 17
A watch was reported stolen from a vehicle on Kathleen Drive at 11:40 a.m.

A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle on Child Street at 11:54 a.m.

A Matthew Drive resident reported at 5:58 p.m. that their vehicle had been rummage through, and belongings had been taken.

An employee of a store on Main Street reported a customer had just shoplifted around 8:07 p.m. Police found the woman, brought her back to the store and she returned the stolen property.

Tuesday, July 18
Illegal dumping was reported on Market Street at 8:04 a.m.

An 8-year-old child was reportedly bitten by a dog through a fence on Water Street around 2:10 p.m.

A Kathleen Drive resident reported at 7:46 p.m. that their vehicle had been broken into earlier in the week.

Police dispersed a customer from a Main Street business who was causing a scene at 7:58 p.m.

Wednesday, July 19
A Denver Avenue resident reported that they hired a person to fix their hot tub, but they had cashed the check and not rendered the services.

A Matthew Drive resident reported at 9:22 a.m. that a wallet had been stolen from their vehicle.

A Main Street resident reported that items had been stolen from their vehicle a few nights prior.

Tiverton PD alerted Warren PD of a stolen vehicle in their town with no plates at 1:17 p.m.

Thursday, July 20
Identity theft was reported on Union Street at 12:35 p.m.

A caller reported that a tractor trailer had struck a parked vehicle on Main Street at 2:16 p.m.

Bristol paramedics assisted with mutual aid at 3:20 p.m. following an accident near Metacom Avenue and Vernon Street involving a high-speed rear-end accident with a child in the car.

A caller on Market Street reported that there were active wires downed which also resulted in her business losing power. Police and special hazards units confirmed that transformers were leaking fluid and that lives wires were unsecured. Rhode Island Energy and RIDOT was notified, who arrived later to address the issue.

Friday, July 21
A Market Street resident reported at 10:06 a.m. that they had been assaulted.

Mark J. Araujo, 52, of 3 North Dr., Portsmouth, was arrested following a motor vehicle stop on Metacom Avenue at 8:37 p.m. He was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC unknown, first offense), and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer. He was arraigned and released later that evening.

Police dispersed a group of juveniles playing manhunt from the area of Mason and Everett Streets at 10:37 p.m.

Benjamin R. Pavao, 29, of 105 Park St., Fall River, Mass., was arrested following a motor vehicle stop near Child Street and Long Lane at 11:47 p.m. He was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC .15 or greater), first offense. He was arraigned and released early the following morning.

Saturday, July 22
A reported assault occurred at 1:31 p.m. on Market Street involving one juvenile female being assaulted by two fellow juvenile females. No arrests were reported.

A sexual assault was reported on Park Street at 3:22 p.m.

A Water Street resident reported at 4:00 p.m. that their bank account had been hacked and funds were missing.

Fireworks were reported near Main Street at 9:33 p.m. and near Highland Avenue at 9:39 p.m. Police didn’t find anything in either area.

Fireworks were again reported, this time on Monast Street at 11:07 p.m. Police didn’t find anything.

Sunday, July 23
Robert Lombardi, 42, of 12 Hope St., Apt. #FRONT, Warren, was arrested on Hope Street at 3:09 a.m. He was charged with two counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, and disorderly conduct, both first offenses). He was arraigned and released later that morning.

A caller on Main Street reported their vehicle stolen at 2:44 p.m. only for police to find it behind the Citizen’s Bank. The owner said he had forgotten he left it there prior to walking home the previous night.

Police spoke with juveniles on Asylum Road at 7:32 p.m. who were lighting off ground fireworks.
