Patients relocated from Crestwood Nursing Home during cleanup

Approximately 20 patients were placed in temporary housing Tuesday after a fire broke out at the Crestwood Nursing Home on Child Street early that morning.

The fire, which was called in at approximately 1:30 a.m., was discovered in a storage room and did not spread to any patients’ rooms. Warren Fire Chief James Sousa said patients were initially moved out of the affected west wing of the building while the fire was contained and smoke cleared. Following that, 21 patients were relocated temporarily to nursing homes and other facilities in Warren and Bristol.

A Crestwood employee said Tuesday morning that a cleaning crew was on site, and patients would be given an all-clear to return, and would be transported back, after a walk through and approval from the Rhode Island Department of Health.

Nobody was injured in the fire.
