Vincent Lanoue, 81, of Swansea

Vincent Lanoue, 81, of Swansea, Mass. passed away on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Smith) Lanoue.

Vincent was born in Warren the son of the late Donat P. and Helen (Vincent) Lanoue. He graduated from La Salle Academy in Providence class of 1949. Mr. Lanoue served his country during the Korean War with the United States Navy.

Vincent owned Wear Friction Control in Providence for 10 years. He then worked for the Rhode Island School of Design for 16 years as a maintenance supervisor before retiring in 1996. Mr. Lanoue was an active volunteer at Station 4 for the Swansea Fire Department for many years. He was also a communicant of Saint Dominic Church in Swansea. Vincent was also a member of the American Legion Post #303 in Swansea and the North Smithfield Lodge of Elks # 2359.

Survivors are three daughters, Diane M. Eddy of Barrington; Donna E. Matthews and her husband Christopher of Portsmouth; Paula J. Harrison and her husband Dwight of Colrain, Mass.; a sister, Annette Giblin of East Providence; six grandchildren, Bethany, Jillian, Drew, Daniel, James and Michael, along with several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late David R. Lanoue, brother of the late Robert Lanoue and father-in-law of the late James R. Eddy.

Calling hours for Mr. Lanoue will be on Friday, Aug. 30 from 4 to 7p.m. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, Mass. followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. in Saint Dominic's Church, 1277 GAR Highway, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Military honors will follow at the church. Burial will be private at the request of the family.
