TIVERTON — The second-seeded Tiverton boys basketball team got off to a strong Division III quarterfinal playoff start Tuesday with a 58-42 win over Lincoln High School on the Tigers’ home court.
Tiverton put on a consistent four-quarter effort, building a ten-point lead by halftime at 28-18 over seventh seed Lincoln High.
Tiverton’s Matt Gacioch controlled the boards with 17 rebounds to go with 13 points scored.
Michael Hrycin was the game’s top scorer with 22 points, 17 of them in the second half.
Also scoring for Tiverton were Carson Hart with 15, Matt Gacioch with 13. Will Brigham with 4, Zach Pacheco with 3, and Josh Dore with 1.
Cody Anter led Lincoln scorers with 14 points.
The win pushed Tiverton to 14-3 in league play, 17-4 overall.
Lincoln was eliminated from the playoffs and ends its season with a 9-7 league mark, 12 and 12 overall.
Tiverton next plays third seed Central Falls this Friday, Feb. 23, at East Providence High School at 7:30 p.m. Central Falls beat sixth seed Ponagansett 70-59.
